Hong Dao Bookstore is a national bookstore chain in China. It was established in 1992 with over five shops across the country and expanding.
The logo and brand identity has been used for over two decades, and it was time to renew when they approached us for an upgrade on their brand image.
Our solution:
We have merged the 弘"Hong" 道"Dao" into one single Chinese character and simply make it an icon for the logo design.
The character could also be used as a pattern by deconstructing it. The red colour is extracted from their original logo and we added grey to give it a cultural and philosophical character.
The same technique and concept was also adapted on its cafe.
